Increased ion throughput using tristate ion-gate multiplexing

Just accepted in Analyst, we’ve improved on using our tri-shutter grid ion gates by implementing the tri-state pulsing to increase ion throughput by 95% and 45% increase in ion counts for the T5 and T12 ions respectively compared to the ion counts obtained using the two-state ion shutter. Overall, utilization of the tri-state ion shutter effectively minimizes both discrimination of slower ions and the impact of gate depletion effect common to traditional ion gating techniques.
